    I observe the following abbrevs. printed next to the power
    and LED connecting pins along the edge of the mainboard and was wondering what they mean. WOR, IRDA and WOL..?
    The RESET, HDD LED are fairly obvious. Should I be concerned about the orientation of "colors" of the leads (red/white, etc..) with respect to the MB pins? The MB is an ATX and is over a year old..no doc. exists any longer.

    With the manufacturer name and model number of the MB you can do a search on google.com and find all the information you could ever want, and then some, at the maufacturers website.

    meanings

    WOR=wake on remote
    IRDA=infra red device
    WOL=wake on lan (local area network
    Red wire=pin 1 but of course all those connectors are diff color.

    If you have double line up of pins for some unknown reason the stampings on the connectors face in so you can't read them unless you take them off. This is just from experience having never seen a pin 1 on the board. Sometimes the manual will show pin 1 in their diagrams.
