The computer is a gateway 2000 from 98, it is a correct reboot. As for error messages I ocassionally get the blue screen error and they different all the time but they are coming at different times as the restarts.

    Thanks Again!

Post back the exact messages you are getting.

There is no generic blue screen, and each, potentially, indicates a different problem.

Opps, give me a moment, I am lost and was posting this thinking I was in the XP forum. Now I have to type up a win98 dodad. In the mean time you could do a file search for faultlog.txt and see if you have one. If not do you have or use tweakui?

This has a tab option somewhere (forget which tab) which enables fault logging. It may not catch all these but it's worth a shot.

The above was written assumimg the problem is with software or hardware but based on topics:
Random....some with errors some without warning...How about eliminating something basic like checking your connections (wires and cords) such as the electrical power plug that turns your computer on. If it is not secure and in a place where it can not be kicked or moved you will get random reboots. Your outlet may be bad. You may have something shared either in the outlet or on any power strip you may be using that also is not secure or is buggy.....etc I think you get the idea.
