I have a loader hooked up to the serial port which is com 1 and when I boot up it will detect the device when my program to run the loader is opened. It will no close the com port when the program is closed and reopened and I have to reboot for the program to detect the device. How can I get windows ME to close the com port. I know that it is not the program, because it will run on another machine loader with ME and also on a machine runnning with 98. I am running a HP Pavilion 7960.
    Thanks for any help.

    Oops woody1
Sorry about your post slipping by. :( Did you ever manage to resolve this?

I never did resolve the problem of the com port closing when the program used to run the loader was closed. I have to reboot the computer to get the com port to close and then it will recognize the loader device again. I am now using an older computer running ME to operate the program and loader and it seems to be working fine. Thanks,
