Somehow my PS/2 ports are crapped out on a top-of-the-line Intel P4. I won't bore everybody with the extremely long details of that mystery; but I'll get right to the current issue perplexing me. I now have a USB(1) mouse & keybd that work fine...once Win2k comes up; but if I have to go into CMOS I'm S.O.L.! Is there something about the USB protocol that isn't recognized by CMOS? I know I'm gonna have to get back in there at some pt. Can anyone hep me?

usually updates to your BIOS would be required. For example Dell systems that are currently shipping have the option in the BIOS for USB keyboard / mouse. Turning on this feature will enable it in the CMOS.

    It's Checked

    Eric,

Tanx for the quick response, however, I do have the USB Enabled in CMOS. Sorry, I didn't incl. the fact that I had already installed the latest BIOS update, that was part of the previous gory details from when the PS/2 ports went out. The conditions it gives me are the following:

USB (Ver. 2). Enabled or Disabled
Legacy USB. The contingency for this (I think)
is that if the device is NOT ver. 2 it will
automatically revert to ver. 1. So, it
doesn't have a toggle as above.

But as I said in my 1st post, it does't recognize it at all. I'm gonna go to the Intel knowledge-base to see if they have anything on this at all.

    Tanx,
    George
