    Hi Guys

I have a PC, Networked to another PC and 2 other Stand alone columns they all display a time correctly but for Two days in a row they have lost 20 mins.

Time is important in this install, they are not linked to the internet, i seem to remember a "stand alone" time sync code or programme.

    Any ideas??

What operating systems are on all the PC's?

PC's are not the best time keepers out there. Since time is not necessary in running your PC they won’t spend alot of money updating it to make it perfect.

When im running anything to do with time, I normally synchronize it with the internet but judging from your post that option may not be available to you.

Also, how long are the computers turned off for each day? If they are turned on 24-7 then they should be ok and keep accurate time.

PC clocks should typically be accurate to within a few seconds per day. If you're experiencing massive clock drift on the order of minutes per day the first thing to check is your source of AC power. I've personally observed systems with a UPS plugged into another UPS (this is a no-no, by the way) that gained minutes per day. Removing the unnecessary UPS from the chain fixed the time problem. I am no hardware engineer, but I'm guessing that some timing signal in the power is used by the real-time clock chip on the motherboard.

Another thing I can suggest is you make sure that the time on each system is set to the correct Time Zone in both the BIOS and Windows.

    Hope This Helps!

It is possible that your system battery is running low. This could cause the clock to run slowly.

What I have found to be a great solution, made even better because it is free, is to install this: http://www.worldtimeserver.com/atomic-clock/

Craig, He doesn't have an Internet connection available to the equipment.

Do you know of any USB dongle that would do that?

Using Atomic Radio Clock (ARC) with Serial / USB interface will provide you with accurate time updates. If ARC signal is weak, you can use external antenna. Another solution taps into GPS system for time updates.
