I have Word 2000. I click Insert> Picture>Clipart and get an empty 'Insert Clipart' dialogue box.. Now every book I read seems to assume that 'Clip Gallery' has lots of clip Art pictures which one simply selects as required. Mine has no pictures in it. However PCs for Dummies' does say, "The first time it comes up Clip Gallery realises it is empty, so it automatically adds the clipart. This process may take a while, so be prepared!!!" My exclamation marks because I left it for 30 minutes and it was still empty.

So obviously I assume the user has to fill it up. How? With a heavy heart I press 'Help', knowing from experience that MS help files are anything but because only dyslexic people are allowed to write them. I am therefore not surprised to find such instructions like, "Use the scroll bar….. to see any clips not visible on the screen ". After much arbitrary permutation and combination I finally manage to import some pictures into Clip Gallery; except the next time I use Clip Gallery they have all disappeared. I give up – unless someone who has "cracked" it could please explain if Clip Gallery is supposed to be a temporary or permanent store, what are its benefits and/or perhaps someone might even know if there is a less convoluted way to select clip art?

    Kind regards,
    Pat

Was the clip art installed along with Word 2000? - I seem to recall that it was an option. On the other hand I also recall that if you try to insert clip art without it being loaded there is a message box requesting that you insert the CD.

Sorry to be so woolly, but, as you've probably guessed, I don't use the stuff and it's a while since I used 2000!

It might be worth your while repairing Word 2000 - in the Help menu pull down list - I think - Help > Detect and Repair or Add/Remove Programs > Word 2000 (or Office 2000) - Remove and take the option to add components.

The clip art is on my Office 2000 cd #1, and got installed with the default installation. Is it possible that you only have Word, and not MS Office?

Thankyou Johanna and Pete for your replies. The computer salesman actually loaded the Office 2000 some months ago but after following your advice to repair it I got a gallery load of pictures. Thankyou once again.

    Kind regards, :)
