clever software?

I am not sure if there is such thing as a clever software or manufacturer, but my problem is I cannot uninstall a certain software.

Anyone using the ICQ Lite? This software cannot be uninstalled since it contains no "log" file when you download it from the net. This makes me suspicious that its manufacturer does not want it uninstalled whether or not the user likes it.

So please tell me what to do if you know or have successfully uninstalled it.

Have you looked in the control panel, add/remove programs?
Is it listed?

 

Yes I have unistalled it from clients computers.

Download this as you will need it to finish the cleanup of the uninstall or if you have to manually remove it.

RegCleaner http://www.vtoy.fi/jv16/shtml/regcleaner.shtml
Look in first 2 cols for programs you thought you uninstalled or removed, these are the dregs left by the uninstaller. Also tag and remove any that you are POSITIVE are not supposed to be on your computer. After removing these go to the top Tools-Registry Cleanup-Do them all. Delete all it finds.

Install RegCleaner but don't run yet.

Boot to safe mode.

If there is no ADD/REMOVE entry in control panel then browse to c:\Program files and look for a ICQ folder.

In this folder look for uninstall, uninstal or unwise and run it.

If it is not here then look in c:\windows for a folder named ICQ, then look for the same uninstall files.

If none exist then you will need to do a manual remove.

Do a search/find for ICQ*.* and delete all it finds folders and files.

Then run RegCleaner look on the first page for any entries for it look at both the 1st and 2nd colums for entries pertaining to ICQ and remove.

After removing these go to the top Tools-Registry Cleanup-Do them all. Delete all it finds. This will find other non ICQ items to be cleaned so get them too.

Okay, guys! I finally removed the leeching ICQ LIte and all its components -- thanks for your inputs! I never realized that there was a software that can actually clean it off my HD!
