    Hi Mike and everyone,
I've lost my list of *tmp etc and the proper command to type in to do a cleanup!
I know there's tmp,bak but don't remember the rest, could someone be kind enough to post them and the proper entry?
    Many thanks and regards:eek:

    Hi Tric

If I remember you have XP.

    Do this immediately after booting.
Go to system tools and run "Disk Cleanup ". Select everything. If you have multiple users log off, then back on as each user, do this for each.

If you were thinking of doing something like using find to do *.tmp I don't reccomend that. It will get *.tmp's outside the normal documented temp folders. Very likely ok but could cause a problem in certain cases.

Also there are more to temps than *.tmp! The windows Temp folder can contain anything and usually does and in large volume.

So use Disk Cleanup. For a more specialized cleanup get EasyClean:

    EasyClean1.7 <http://gswi.com/downloads.htm>

Run everything but duplicate files. You have to know what to keep when adressing system files, so leave it alone.

In the start menu cleaner do not force any thing it complains about.

    Mike
