Cleaning hard disk

    I would like to completly clean my hard drive and reinstall windows xp.Any suggestions on how to do it and the pros and cons?Thanks

    First make sure you have all your programmes and drivers on CD's and/or floppies. Modem settings, ISP settings and passwords etc for Win XP written down, and your own preferences/settings documented as well.
    Next go into your BIOS and set the boot (first boot) option to your CDROM, Save this BIOS setting and restart with your Win XP cd in the drive and follow the onscreen promps. I would reformat your existing partition selecting NTFS in preference to FAT32 (if you intend not dual booting with a 9x OS).
    To save writing a few pages of step by step instructions here I suggest serching the Net and printing some instructions/tips and tweaks. The parent site of this BBS also has some usefull info as well http://www.windows-help.info/xp_clninstall.htm
