Clean install problems

    Iam trying to do a clean install of Win2000Pro but when I try to boot from a floppy to partion and reformat it stops and tells me that>NTLDR is missing< and I cant go any further then that.If I remove the floppy.hit any key the machine will then open in Windows.Any clues?The floppy drive seems to be functioning correctly.I also did a search in Device manager,clicked on>Problem devices<and reports a problem of>NT Apm/Legacy Interface Node......PNP\NTamp\0000.........error code 22.
    Any insight is appreciated.
