I was wondering if there was a way to set up chkdsk in windows XP, so that it would perform an error check when booting up after an illegal shut down. If there is could someone please tell me how because I've had a couple of bad shut downs and I keep forgeting to check the drive! Thanx.

    Hi Col84
    Welcome to the boards!
    I ran across this:

The registry entry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\BootExecute may have an entry for 'autocheck'

Skip that Col84.....I just took notice of your experience level. If you're new to computers, messing around in the registry is not a good idea.

Perhaps someone will come along with a better plan. :(
