I'm having this problem with Firefox, and it's hard to explain. Whenever I load a page that has music playing, it always freezes and never loads after that. I can see the Quicktime symbol where the pause/play and volume controls would be, and I figured that must be the problem because Quicktime is incredibly slow and usually never works for me. I use to have it so that the controls and stuff looked like the controls from Windows Media Player, and that always loaded real fast. So I was wondering if there is a way to change it back or something.

Have you tried uninstalling the Quicktime program and it should revert back to Windows Media player.

I just did that and now it says I need additional plugins to view all media. Then it gives me a link to install the plugin. I click the link and it will only let me install Quicktime. Is there any way I can make it so I don't have to get Quicktime?

Open Windows Media Player and click on: Tools, and then the "File Types" tab. From that menu select the files for which you want WMPlayer to be the default player.

Once you have done this, then in the location bar type: about:plugins
Ensure that all Media Player plugins are listed:

    npwmsdrm.dll
    npdrmv2.dll
    npdsplay.dll

You will also need to install the ActiveX plugin for Windows Media Player. This is not the dreaded IE ActiveX... http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/plugin.htm#download

What Version of Firefox, and Windows Media Player are you using?

EDIT: did you remove the QuickTime plugins from your plugins folder?
