    Hello friends,
I have win98SE OS with intel P4.For three four days I am facing acute problem in running any disc in E:\. Whenever any disc is inserted in E drive my computer does not read it and say E:\ is not accessible.
What is the problem I do not understand. I have reloaded win98 still the problem exists. After inserting CD in E drive light comes on and it hangs after few seconds. Please suggest the remedial mesure. Thanks.

Although you have reloaded Windows go into Device Manager and uninstall the drive - reboot to let Windows find it again.

If this does not work check the cable connections at both ends - remove and replace.

Always possible that the drive has failed - any chance of hitching it up temporarily in another computer?

    Some other possibilities here ....

    My tests:
Remove the CD drive in Device Manager.

Remove the IDE Controller in Device Manager.

Pull out and reseat the cable connectors.

Remove the drive in Device Manager, shutdown and pull out the cable connectors. Boot into Windows, shutdown and reconnect the cables.

After that, check that it works on another computer.

Still no luck, the ASPI layer drivers may be corrupt by using more than one CD/DVD burning program.

    In a nutshell:)

Edit: Mishrarc, don't hestitate to ask questions about any of those.
