Hi! I'm new. Am using Netscape 7.0. Started have problems with SLOW surfing 2 days ago. Called ISP and they concluded I needed a service call and set it up for this morning. He installed a new cable modem which solved the speed problem. But last night it had occurred to me that I might have some spyware aboard so I downloaded Spy Bot Search & Destroy and AdAware. Didn't find anything serious but discovered I could no longer sign in to Yahoo or Ebay or to pay my gas bill! Yahoo and Ebay keep saying my browser is rejecting cookies. I have gone in and changed things several times, now have it at accept all cookies--still nothing. Also have 6.2 and changed it there too. Finally used IE tonight to bid on ebay and it was ok there....so it has to be something in Netscape. It's driving me nuts!! What could be wrong? I finally uninstalled both new progs but no difference.
    Thanks much!

I should not say that the uninstall/reinstall is pointless, because it worked for me, once. There is no reason to do it, unless all other avenues failed.
However, you say that you had 7.0 and 6.2. If you shared the profile, or are not aware of having one for each browser, you are bound to have problems, sooner or later. One browser=one profile.
Also, I don't understand this statement: " I finally uninstalled both new progs but no difference. "
You indicated that you havd 6.2 and 7.0. Is there a third program? I don't understand what you mean. although 7.0 is quite old, stick with it, or whatever and don't use more than one version, unless you know what you are doing.

The two programs I uninstalled were SpyBot Search and Destroy and AdAware. I thought that something they did might have caused my problem but the problem was still there after uninstalling them. Then I tried IE, which is on my computer but not used, and was able to log in to Yahoo and ebay. That narrowed it down to a problem with Netscape. If I use IE, I'm going to have to do updates with it and am not looking forward to that.

I just don't understand why I'm still getting the message that my browser is rejecting cookies (when I use Netscape) when I've gone in and changed the settings that I'm aware of to allow cookies.

I thought of reinstalling Netsc 7.0 but would rather fix what I've got, if possible. Apparently I should uninstall Netsc. 6.2--will have to ck out how.

Sorry to sound ignorant (I am about this!) but know nothing about profiles. BTW, I use Eudora as my mail client/program, not Netscape.

    Thanks for replying!
