    Hello:
I have a Gateway pc running Win 98se that will not display a web page. I can pull an IP address fine, and I also can ping various web sites with no problem and no packet loss. When I open the browser, it sits there with a white screen for 4-5 minutes until finally timing out or showing the "page cannot be displayed" screen. This machine has Internet Explorer and Netscape Nav. and both browsers do the same thing. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Tom

After posting my question, I continued to look for a possible cause to this problem and found it. A program called Norton Internet Security is what was blocking the browser capabilities. The pc belongs to a friend, who informed me he was no longer using Norton. I deleted the program, (quite an extensive batch of files) and now the pc works great.
    Thanks for your input,
    Tom
