Trying to setup a new network in newly installed Windows 7 Ultimate. Can't get anywhere in the Network & Sharing Center. Set up a new network takes me to a screen telling me 'Choose the wireless router you want to configure' but it doesn't find my router. Diagnostics returns the following message:

"The Windows wireless service is not running on this computer.
The Windows wireless service is also called the WLAN Autoconfig service. "

It's setup to Auto start in Services but when I try to start it I get this message:

"Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig Service on local computer.
Error 1068. The dependency service or group failed to start. "

    Any ideas?

    Found this via Google.

    1. Open regedit. Backup registry
    2. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet / Services / Ndisuio
    3. Look at the "Start" entry. If that is set to 4, then that is your problem. Change it to 3.
    4. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SYSTEM / CurrentControlSet002 / Services / Ndisuio
    5. Again, if the "Start" entry is set to 4, change it to 3.
    6. Close Regedit.
    7. Reboot computer
    8. go into network connections. disable the wireless for a minute, then re-enable it.
