One of my PCs is running Netscape 8.1 (and XP Pro). When I am logged onto my XP account, and am using Netscape, if I try to close Netscape, and I have multiple tabs open, I get a message: "Close all tabs "? If I click that Netscape closes.

However, when my wife is logged onto to her XP account, and is using Netscape, it does not work the same. If she has multiple tabs open, and tries to close Netscape, when she clicks on "Close all tabs ", the message just goes way, and Netscape is still there. The only way she can close Netscape is to individually close all but one tab, and then close Netscape. How can I fix that?

    Thanks.

You don't have to close all Tabs, to exit. Just File|Exit or click on the X.
Why would 8.1.2 hee you, and not your wife, has to do with the fact that there is, most likely, only one profile, yours, tapped from two different directions.
But, I never, once, had closed Tabs. If I did not request them to be on, on startup, they won't come back. Anyway there is a setting in Tools|Options|Tabbed browsing which can be unchecked, i.e. "warn when multiple tabs are open ". That setting does not accomplish anything more than warning you that Tabs are open.

Clicking on the "X" (or File|Exit) is what causes the "Close all tabs?" message to appear (if there is more than one tab open). And, I do have separate profiles set up for both my wife and me.

Anyway, I think I discovered what the problem is, sort of. When I installed XP on this PC, and then set up accounts, somehow the account for my wife got set up as "Limited Account ". I just tried making it an "Administrator Account ". Then, clicking on "Close all tabs?" closed Netscape. I tried changing it back to "Limited Account ", and then, once again, clicking on "Close all tabs?" just made the message disappear, and left Netscape open.

I was looking for something like that. I guess I just didn't see it the first time I looked. I just tried it, and that works OK.

    Thanks.

You are right about part1. Glad to have hit it right about part2.
I found that NS8.x has been tab-crazy from day one. Just look at all the options in Tabbed browsing. However there is some usefulness about being warned when closing. There was a time when I was, accidentally, hitting the X. But not anymore.
