can't clear address bar

I went to Tools>internet options>clear history and cleared history. I also deleted files and deleted cookies.
But if I type www.a Amazon and other sites beginning in A pop up on the address bar in IE. I can't seem to clear all these out. When I clear history, some addresses go away but not all. I want to clear all of them out. How?

The autocomplete worked perfect...thanks.

But I don't understand why clear history didn't work. When I found some websites via this autocomplete, I ran the clear history several times. I then ran a complete search of my entire computer. The search did not turn up these autocomplete sites. Where were they hiding?
