    OK, then,
I have been "at it" with Symantec...the usual, uninstall, email tech support, talk with god, read email from tech support, talk with God, reinstall, reconfigure, talk with God, reconfigure email, talk with God...you know the drill. OK, in the instructions for uninstall, instructions are to search for specific folders and delete everything in them. Well one file "virscan7.dat" will not delete. I get the error message "Cannot delete virscan7.dat data error (cyclic redundancy). So, I am trying the command prompt to do this. My cmd line comes up as: "C:\Documents and Settings\Jack Inyart(flashing cursor) and I can't change this. The syntax for deleting is del c:\ and I have tried various approaches with out success including going to taskmgr, stopping explorer.exe, going back to the cmd line and putting in the command to delete and restarting explorer.exe....*** thing is still there. I think the syntax for the cmd line is not right. Any suggestions? How do you delete a file that ordinary methods won't work? I am "in research on the web" about this and so far, no help. Thanks.

Thanks for your response. The program is already uninstalled and is: Norton Internet Security 2007, and seems to working well now. The issue is the .dat file virscan7 that I have not been able to delete from the computer.
I have just finished running chdsk and found that there were four file segments that were unreadable. 32512-32515. Chdsk also spent some time "repairing" file and clusters. I also just attempted to delete the .dat file after running chdsk and got a different error message: "Cannot delete virscan7.dat The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. I am about to try rebooting in safe mode and delete from there. Thanks again.
