Resolved Cannot connect to internet

    COMPUTER DETAILS:DELL DIMENSION DV51 (3100) WINDOWS XP

    Hi,

    I have an old Tiny notebook laptop and cannot connect to the internet.I have a 'Netgear Wireless connection which is all set up correctly. When I try to log on to the internet it is saying " One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfuncioned and Windows does not recognise it" then underneath it it is showing a menu with these details on:-



    The location of the device is shown in bold type

    USB Root Hub (2 ports)
    Unused port
    Unknown device (this one is shown in bold type )

    I have tried the two ports and neither of them will work.Does this mean there is a fault with the computer???

    Grateful of any help.

    Has the wireless connection ever worked on this computer?

    Can you connect if you connect to the router by cable?

    If you can uninstall all USB controllers and root hubs through Device Manager and reboot to reinstall them.

    If that does not resolve the issue do the same for the wireless card.

    If that does not resolve the issue see if there are any updated drivers for the wireless card.

    Thanks Pete I have uninstalled them but can you tell me how to reinstall them please.
