I am using Vista and had been using Microsoft Outlook to access both my Hotmail account and my email account from my ISP.
I like having the 2 email accounts in the same email program but I hate Outlook and decided to change to Thunderbird.
I cannot seem to add my hotmail account on though.
I found the pop server that hotmail indicates I should use but ti does not bring my mail in.
I also have several other folders in hotmail where I store important messages.
I cannot find a place where I can import those folders either.
Is there a solution to any of this?
and finally, is there another email client that would work better for my purposes?
Thanks in advance for all answers.

Hotmail is, basically, a webmail, and webmails cannot be set up in a mail client, unless specifically made for Hotmail. It stands to reason that Microsoft-owned Hotmail could be set up in a Microsoft mail client. However, freePOPs could work. Just read up the directions for installation, and set up the account.

Regardless of the method used, It is essential to enter the entire address as username.
With freePOPs one must have the freepops.exe icon in the taskbar.

I just set up hotmail in my TB and there is one change. Use port 995 instead of 993 as it says.

I then checked my hotmail in TB and it asked for my password and then downloaded 5 messages to my hotmail inbox.

    Works great.....
