    Hello all...
Now i have had problems with my usb drives before but are all resolved but my camera card still wont read when i put it in its little slot in my tower! Normally ...when it did work i would put it in and the program for it would pop up automatically! Now i have to open it manually and the photos wont load on the computer! I dont have the cord for my camera and this is usually the way i did upload all my photos all the time..just now it wont work!! Any ideas?? The loading lights next to the slot still work so i dont know why it wont read it!

Till someone else comes along with some other ideas see if you can try the card in another computer and see if it reads it. That way you know if it is the card or a problem with your computer. Had a problem with a CF Card Reader. After taking a close look at it I noticed one of the pins were bent.

Hi missa85, Have you checked to see if you have a Yellow Triangle and exclamation mark against your Card Reader in Device Manager?

I have a plug in USB card reader and I just plugged it in with an SD card in it and XP recognized it and installed the drivers - no hassle.

I assume you can only insert your SD card one way into the Reader? Cheers Neil.

Right click on My Computer on Desktop > Left click Properties > Hardware > Device Manager. I'm not sure whether it will be shown in Imaging Devices or as a unit of it's own.
If it shows as a Card Reader > double click on that > it should drop down to name of unit > Right click Properties and see if it's running OK.

Do you have a Software CD for the Card Reader? You may have to unistall and restart comp then reinstall Software on the CD.

As Russ suggested, if a contact is damaged in the reader slot you may be deep in the brown stuff.

I assume your kids are old enough not to poke things into the slots that don't fit? Cheers Neil.

If you have a printer with Sd card slots in try that ?
Can you still take photos and save/view them on the camera ? If you can , then card is probably OK.
If everything is ok in device manager , then i would look at the drivers.
If after all that still no joy,the reader is goosed, you could by a cheap card reader of Fleabay to get you by.
