    It is tiresome that a few apps I have call their base website
    and ask questions like "do you want to update ?" or
    "there is a new version ... "
    Usually I chop them out by editing the Host file.
    Do you have a better way ?

    Surely the apps have an option to disable any "auto-updates ", etc.

    Hello merlin,

    A firewall will do the job if your running one. One of two ways - either by denying "server" rights or by blocking them from calling out. Both ZA & Sygate can do this as I'm sure most others can as well.


    Or look at the options in the software itself, lots of programs have a way to turn this behavoir off.
