Is there a way to create "Mega Icons" for the desktop? I have icons for games, for Word & Excel, for music formats (Kazaa, WinMix, etc.) In other words, can I create an icon for, say, "games" which I can move the other icons to. (Free Cell, Pegged, solitaire, etc.) then just go to the "Games" icon and then to the individual ones? Then one for "Internet ", let's say, in which I'll put IE, OE, and one or two search engines. I know this will add a step, but it'll clean up a very busy desktop. (OS: 98SE)

You can create a new folder on your desktop, decide on an icon for it, and put shortcuts in the folder.

I find it neater to create a new folder, say, "Games ", right-click drag it to the Start Menu, Programs, and then put all my game shortcuts there. This gets it completely off the desktop.

Remember that uninstalls won't take these new shortcuts out, so you will need to remove them manually if you uninstall something.

    Go to http://download.com.com/
You'll find more icons than you can shake a stick at.

When you get all your icons together, put them in one folder, and move the folder to Windows/system. Then when you choose "Browse" for new icons instead of the ones that default (shell32.dll), you should end up in the System folder and see your Icons folder. Putting them there will also prevent you from deleting them accidentally and ending up with the "no icon" icon ;) .

Another thing you can do is search your computer for icons. Find: *.ico
You'll be surprized. Copy them into your icon folder for easy access.

Hope I was clear. If not, come back  .
