Hi, I'm a new user and this problem has gotten me completely baffled.

When I try to open up internet explorer or my documents or any of my folders there comes up an error that says something about C++ and Buffer Overrun Detected and requires me to shut down whatever is running. Some times it even shuts down explorer and I don't even know why!

If any one could help me that would be great. Thanks so much. :)

    Hi
Is there any other messages ?
Are you running XP service pack 1?

You might check this Microsoft bulletin to see if it applies.
    Microsoft

Others here may have a better idea, So don't jump into anything just yet.

    There are not other messages.

    I'm running service pack two.

And I'm not seeing anything else on that reference that relates to my problem. Thanks for the help though.

Maybe someone else will know what I'm talking about.

Buffer overruns are usually associated with malware. Make sure that your antivirus definitions are up to date and run a full system scan, and then run these removal tools, and see if they find anything:

    Spybot S & D

    Adaware

    Microsoft Windows Antispyware
