I cannot install my Brother MFC J615 printer.

I am attempting to install it over the wired network. I can see the printer, the install program finds the printer but during the install process I am getting an 0x2 error. The install finishes and the printer is listed in Devices & Printers but I cannot print to it.

Brother Tech support says it's a problem with the registry...

    I am on Win7 64 Bit - 4Gig of RAM - updated - etc.

    Any thoughts out there?

    Thanks

Is the printer shared off another pc or is it plugged into a print server type of device?

Instead of using Windows add a printer - pop in the cd and do it manually.

And then you went Here and downloaded the 64 bit drivers..

    What else have you tried?

I did download and try to install the 64bit drivers as well.

I called Brother but they said that the 0x2 error is a problem with the machine, not the printer. It's a clean install of Win7 Pro.

Tried again and failed again when installed from disk.

I then tried from Devices & Printers and came up with the error WSD Print Device doesn't have a driver

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I'm thinking that a repair install of Win7 might be the only way to repair this

cspgsl - mentioned via a PM:

No resolution as yet. I think a Win7 repair install will be the only way to fix it but I remain ever hopeful.

I should add that it is a busy little bakery so finding the time to repair install will need to wait for a holiday period

Have you checked the ink cartridge levels, worth checking.

I know that the printer and cartr
idges are fine. I was able to install it on two other computers on the network by using the downloaded software. It is just this one computer giving me trouble.
