    Hi Everyone,
Using Win XP Pro. Has been booting fine till yesterday. Now, boots OK till it gets to the Welcome screen. Hangs on the Welcome screen for 1min. & 47sec. Then it blips and completes the loading process. During the 1min & 47sec wait, I check the HDD light for any activity. There is none. Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks

You could use MSConfig as a diagnostic to see what is trying to load at boot. Have you made any recent changes in hardware or software? A great startup tool is here and it's free. You might also try System Restore, since this problem just began. Post back.

Used System Restore, Corrected the problem. But when I checked Add Remove Programs, I have 2 items back that had been removed. Iomega Ware and Active Disk. When I try to remove them, I get this message, The following file does not exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file. How do I remove these Programs?

Re-install them and then uninstall them

Reinstalled Iomega Ware and removed it. It removes Iomega Ware, but wont remove Active Disk. I still get the message, The following file does not exist or is not a valid uninstallation log file. I tried to reinstall and remove twice, same results.

Hmm .... thought Active Disk was part of IomegaWare - clearly not. There is not a standalone version on the Iomega site - there is a WinXP moving tool which uses Active Disk.

If you are happy in the registry search there for all references to Iomega/Active disk - back up (export) all the references you find, then go through again and delete the entries. If this fouls up you can restore the *.reg files that were exported by double-clicking on them.

Alternatively - and safest by far - ignore that entry in Add/Remove :) It won't do any harm.

You are right. The entry in add/remove is not bothering anything. I think I will leave it there. I went to Programs and removed the reference to Iomega Ware. That cleaned up Programs. Thanks to every one for your help.

Just went through the same thing with Iomega. What a sloppy program!

You need to go to Services and stop the Active Disk service or it won't uninstall with the rest of the IomegaWare. Also terminate imgicon in Task Manager.

So, reinstall and shut down any Iomega services, then uninstall.

Even then, one of the duplicate Active Disk Services remained, so I did a registry search for the exact name of this service and removed all references to it. It was removed from the services list.

Thanks for the reply Abraxas. The program certainly is not very well written.

    You're welcome.

Many registry cleaners, like the free RegSeeker ( http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm ) have an Installed Applications section where you can remove entries in Add/Remove for programs that no longer exist.
