I used bootpart to add a line to boot.ini:

    D:\bootpart\bootlinx.bin= "linux "

When I tried to boot linux, I got an error:

    A necessary file is missing "C:\winnt\System32\ntoskrnl.exe "

Anybody familiar with bootpart? please give me some help.

Was it C:\winnt\System32\ntoskrnl.exe by any chance? That woulda worked fine on NT3/4 but not so pretty good on 2K/XP probably.

Yes, it is. The fact is the file wasn't missing. It worked fine with window 2000 also when I put bootpart at the root of the system drive(C).
