i have a LILO bootloader installed and i cant figure out how to get rid of it, i tried to install the Windows XP RECOVERY CONSOLE but it doesn't work, first it gives me an error message that says "system cannot find specified file: c:windowsi386winntupgnetupgrd.dll" but the installation gets completed anyway and when i restart i can get to the screen that lets me select what to load, and when i choose recovery console, everything goes well, i select what to installation of windows to load and then it asks me for a password HERE IS MY BIGGEST PROBLEM , i never set a password and it asks me for one, i just hit enter to skip it like it said on the microsoft website and it says invalid password, when it should just skip it and go on, can someone help me with this or tell me what i can download to get access to my MBR and edit it or create a new Master Boot Record for Windows XP. HELP is very much appreciated! i am grounded and have one disk so i have to do something with what i have now. PLZ HELP

Boot from a floppy (any Win9x/ME one should do) and run Fdisk /mbr. That will get rid of the LILO loader.

After that, were it me, I would do a format & clean install of XP.
