I believe D: is your CD/DVD. How are you backing up to CD from Win98 ?

I currently use Make Data CD capability of Nero and have a stack of 700 MB CD-R. I have also used Copy and Backup in the past.

Nero is on the 98 computer and I have been using it for years to get CD backup. 7 is a new computer. I have not yet transferred many files from 98 to 7 but those I have transferred have been by CD. I would like to use 7 for backup of 98 files. That is why I am trying to arrange sharing between them. I need to run a disk diagnostic on 98 as I have had several booting failures on that computer. A full backup is required before running the disk diagnostic. The present backup on CDs is of the most important data files.

Can you take out the hard disk from Win98 computer & attach it to Win7 computer & then copy your data onto WIn7 hard disk ?

Would be much faster & convenient than copying a stack of cds.

I cannot get the top off the 98 and I certainly do not know how to take the hard disk out and attach it to the 7. I will try to set up the file sharing between 98 and 7 as per the instructions that have been provided. If that does not work, I will settle for the back up on CDs. It would help if I could overcome the D: error message.
