Good morning all Its been a long time since I had any trouble with Firefox! But today it hit me. I lost all of my bookmarks! I got them back by going into my profile and looking at a file named bookmarks backup. I don't know where it came from, but I was glad it was there!. Now for the problem I cant get my bookmarks button to stay in my browser! When I go to view, toolbars, customize, and drag the bookmarks icon up to the toolbar all is fine it, will stay there all session but when I close FF and re open FF it is gone! and I have to go through the process again to get it back up there (Grr) This morning when I opened FF there was some updates to install 1 was Mcaffe sightAdvisor 26.1 I hastily started clicking on update before I was sure of what was going on! there might of been more updates but I don't remember the version of Firefox I am using is 1.5.0.9 any suggestions on fixing the bookmark button to stay where its suppose to stay Thx

I am using the same FF version as you do, and I got McAfee Site Advisor v.26.1.
And, no problems. I am not sure how you got the bookmarks backup, but if you did the retriaval with FF open, it won't last when you open it again.
As for the bookmarks, you should be able to access them from the bookmarks button on the Main(Top) Menu. I know that many people are used to the button in the personal toolbar, but that's redundant. Now if you are having problems with other folders and files in the Personal Toolbar, it is another issue. I am using the Personal Toolbar to access some folders which are widely used, and I manage that from Bookmarks|Personal Toolbar folder.

Thx for the reply ! So maybe I also got an update for FF also and thats why my bookmarks icon is not there anymore, it use to be right next to the Home icon, stop icon, refresh, ect. But from what your saying it is not that way anymore! I can live with that!! (hard for an old dog to learn new tricks). Also another problem I have is when I open FF it is always in the restore down window not the large window do you know how to make it open all the time in the large window ?

    sutsujsti,

Your Toolbar Customization should work, when you drag the Bookmarks icon to the Toolbar. I just did the same thing and the Bookmarks icon is still in place.

    Toolbar Customizations Reset on Startup:

When changes to the toolbar reset themselves after you close Firefox and start it up again, you probably have a corrupt "localstore.rdf" file in the profile folder. You can fix the problem in two ways:

    1. Exit Firefox completely and then start it in safe mode. A window called Firefox Safe Mode with some troubleshooting options will appear. Select the option "Reset toolbars and controls" and choose "Make Changes and Restart ".

    2. Rename the localstore.rdf file, located in your salted folder, to Xlocalstore.rdf.

For your startup window problem, this too is can be connected to a corrupt localstore.rdf file. However, you can try this:

Right click the Desktop Firefox Icon
    Select: Properties
    Click on the Shortcut tab
In the Run field, click on the arrow
    Select: Maximized
