I only require to backup the C Hard drive, but computer backups the other two HD installed in computer. Removing click referring to the other HDs fails to carry out procedure. Disconnecting Hdrives other than C from computer, a caption displays Windows can't find Hdrives in question. What is the correct procedure to enable only the C Hdrive to be backed up?

RSinfo, thanks for reply. I use Windows 7 backup at the present. After a reinstall of computer to factory settings, backup was satisfactory until yesterday when once again BU played up, backing up all HD connected to computer. I only want to BU the contents of the "C" HD. All HDs reference letters un-ticked except the "C" HD. Bobby. Checked the VS Copy settings as Manual.

I stopped using Win 7 backup for doing backup of anything as its very hard to restore if your OS drive crashes.

I use AOMEI Backupper. It can take full/incremental/differential backup & runs much faster than Win 7 backup.

I agree with you, Windows 7 Backup/Restore is anything but reliable. I have tried Acronis,Windows Image Backer, and find them anything but easy to follow and use. I would like a Backup/Restore file package, that just does that with no whistles.

Acronis & AOMEI Backupper can be used simply to take an image of your system drive with one click. You can forget about the bells & whistles if you don't want them.

Thank you for reply, I have installed software and made Backup of the "C" drive that store Windows7 and other software. It offers a System and Disk Backup. I presume that the system backup is all that is required? certainly would appreciate your views.

System backup is for backing up partition/disk containing the Windows OS, the boot partition, programs & users files [unless you moved them to some other partition/disk].

Disk backup is for backing up any disk including system partition but it may not backup the boot partition unless you tell it to.

Make sure that you make a recovery disk for the backup program that you are using & keep it safe.
