Today is a day to remember because today is my first post.

I use the backup tool in w2k, it goes to a tape drive. There isn't a lot of data so we do a full backup every night. I'm in school right now going for my msce and I haven't given much thought to distaster recovery.I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions about what I could/should be doing.

In addition to the backup (which will save your data) you could image the box every time you made any major changes. Ghost, Drive Image, or similar.

Using "proper" back up software such as BackupExec or Arcserve will be a good start.

The backup program in NT is adequate for a one hit data backup but has no clever features.

Third party software has DR agents which allow the whole server to be rebuilt from just the tape and a couple of floppies
