I have been running AVG for some time and am very happy with it. Yesterday however it came up with the icon greyed. on going in it said the virus definition was out of date. I ran the updater and it said it was up to date. I reloaded the AVG program and got the same result.
    Any suggestions?
Also how do you manually update the program aftter downloading the BIN file?
I have the latest version 7.5.... installed at the moment...the free version.
    Thanks for any help.

Download the latest version of 7.5 and save it to a folder. Upon completion, go to the folder and double click the file to start an installation but when you get to the screen prompt with three options (Add or Remove Components, Repair , Uninstall) select the repair option.

    ;)

Thanks very much for the advice. I have in fact tried that and it did not help. I have just found a similar problem to mine documented on another board which indicates this occurs if the system clock is off. I am going to check this soon as I get home. I will advise if I find this to be the problem.

    It was the incorrect date

I checked and the date on my computer had in fact been set wrong. I reset the date and the problem was resolved. Thanks for the various recommendations.
