Has anyone seen where the autoupdates feature in contol panel is grayed out and won't let you select anything? The computer will go to the windows update site and install updates OK but the security center icon is red since the autoupdates cannot be turned on? I read something somewhere about the administrator has disabled it? If it was disabled it wasnt done on purpose.
So how do I turn it back on?

    Thanks

    Heres the cure :)

Backup your registry first then go to this website:

    http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Go to the line across from #179.

This file will alter your registry !!

Use with caution and only as a last resort.

    This should solve the problem:

Fix: Start / C'trl Panel / Performance and Maintenance / Administrative Tools / Services /Automatic Updates / Must be set to Automatic. Then place Radio dot where you desire.
