    Here is a good one.
    I'm not sure when it stopped working, so I can't trace it to any installation/update.

    I employed all known to me tricks:
    - checked autoplay registry entries:
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom
    AutoRun has value "1 "
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
    NoDriveTypeAutoRun - tried "91 ", "95" values, rename to XNoDriveTypeAutoRun (upon restart "X" is removed)
    - deleted upper-, lowerfilters (apparently SP1 reinstalled them)
    - checked Autoplay setting in Control Panel
    - uninstalled DVD burner
    - uninstalled IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
    - tried M$ "autoplay fix" for XP (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...-E8FA-45C4-A171-1B389CFACDAD&displaylang=en)- won't run

    Any other ideas?

    Try a value of 0 for NoDriveTypeAutoRun and 149 for NoDriveAutoRun under both HKLM and HKCU policies\explorer keys.

    NoDriveTypeAutoRun was originally set to "0 ", so I'll try "145" for other entries.
    I'll let you know. Thanks.

    I'm little bit confused...NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and NoDriveAutoRun, or it's a typo?

    Not a typo. Should have both entries under each key, both REG_DWORD. If they don't exist, create them.

    All clear. NoDriveAutoRun is not present, so I'll create it.
    I'll let you know.
