How can I prevent an automatic connection when I open an email? it doesn't always happen, but quite often.

    Hi Mitch
    Open Outlook Express
Go to tools.....then options.....and look under the general tab.
Do you have a check mark in "Send and recieve messages at startup "?

... also, you could 1) view mails as Plain Text (it's the HTML element which initiates the call-out; or 2) in IE, go to Tools - Internet Options - Connections and select "Never dial ... " (but you'll then have to manually establish a connection rather than doing so through IE/OE).
