    Even though autocomplete has been enabled for addresses, forms, and passwords, information previously entered is still not remembered by IE. We have several Win 2000 systems which are running IE6; however, only inline autocomplete functions properly. I've tried clearing the passwords and forms, unchecking the autocomplete options, then rechecking all the autocomplete boxes with no positive results. I can go to the registry entry for "IntelliForms" and watch encrypted entries be created for each password entered. Their values are always set to "0 ". I've tried setting those entries to "1" with no positive results.

    Any suggestions as to why IE6 and Win2000 are acting this way? We have no problems with IE6 on Win '98...only on these 4 Win 2000 systems. All users are administrators of their respective 2000 systems.

    Thanks,

    Hi jiffylube92
    Welcome to the boards!
    You might want to try to delete your protected storage value?
    It might work? Might not. Scroll to the bottom of this page and have a gander?
    Do you have your Windows 2000 service packs installed?

    protected storage

    Thanks for the quick reply. Actually, the case you pointed me to didn't do the trick, but you got me going in the right direction. I found a similar case [Q264033] on microsoft.com using "protected storage" as the search variable. It didn't exactly match my symptoms, but I tried it on a whim. I then deleted the registry key for: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider. Then by going into IE and clearing the forms and passwords, the key was recreated. I am now able to reuse saved information in forms, but passwords are still not saving.

    Actually, upon further review...after a reboot, the password function is working for some sites, but not all sites.

    Sorry about that jiffylube92,
    I'll keep my eye out for a fix for you. I've not run into anything so far however.
