The Update function in Windows 10 is a pain. I have always kept things up to date but the latest version has a feature which I refer to as the Update Stasi in that as soon as it is ready to update, it either slows down, stops some functionality or both so the only option is to reboot.

Yesterday, I had an online appointment which required Java. Java wouldn't boot up and everything slowed down. On reboot, sure enough, there was an update and by the time I was able to get going it was 45 minutes later. Nothing to do with Java, just the Update Stasi had decided that I had to do it then and there if I wanted my computer back.

Is there anything that can be disabled so I can control when updates are to be installed and to stop the Update Stasi from forcing me into a reboot?
