Audio Driver missing?

I have an HP Pavilion 740n desktop.
Asustek P45-LA
Windows XP with SP2
Realtek AC 97 Audio Device

My audio does not work after reformatting my hard drive.
I tried uninstalling then installing the audio driver... but it still does not work.

It used to work before I reformatted my drive.

I tried searching online for possible solutions, but all of them did not work. It seems that this is a common problem with the onboard AC 97 audio.

After uninstalling, then re-installing the audio driver, I get an error message.

Can someone help me solve this problem?

Still not working...

I tried to download the realtek AC97 audio driver from the HP website, but when I rebooted I got this error message:

error loading cmicnfg.cpl
The specified module could not be found

And then it executed the realtek ac97 audio driver again.

This time, it did not download, but I came to this blue screen with the following error message near the bottom:

***portcls.sys - Address f742146D base at F721000, DateStamp 41167f13

What does this mean?
