That says that AOL is BUILTIN. Or at least preloaded. Or if it isn't and you click on the ICON it may/will be.

Sometimes yes and sometimes NO ! But even if you do succeed and ever do a System Restore it WILL COME back.

    My experience with this.

I had a Win98SE machine that either one of the kids clicked on something extra or they went to a site and stuff was loaded in the background without their knowledge but AOL and Yahoo ( yes both ) were in the machine. and really messed up IE.

So far ( at least for me ) Firewalls will not stop this either. Because once you go to a site you have already opened the door. I have both a Router and Kerio Firewall and the stuff came right thru.

It took me the better part of a day manually cleaning the Reg to get the mess cleaned up. There was nothing in Add/Remove. And then I FORGOT and did a scanreg /restore because I had removed more than I wanted to . OUCH !!!. Desktop Icons and other stuff were back.

Anytime we cleanout things like AOL or other stuff it is a good idea that System Restore in XP and the RB00x.cab files in 98 be Cleaned out and replaced after the cleanup. Otherwise it could all be backagain.
