Greetings, I am able to send mail, but some of my friends, who use AOL cannot send back. Called my ISP, they said that these people probably have a virus.Does this make any sense?Other people who use AOL are able to send. Thank You!(I use OE)

Interesting. The usual problem with AOL these days it that they have blacklisted so many ISPs that others have trouble getting an email to a friend on AOL. Their server decides it is spam based on the email address and blocks it.

I gather your friends are able to get your email but something bad happens when they try to reply. Questions:

    - are these same people able to originate and email to you and have it go to you?

    - when they try to reply and it fails, exactly what happens at their end? Error message or what?

What happens when they try to send you mail? Same message as your relative?
You might try getting another email account (Yahoo or hotmail or some other freebie) and have them get one too. May or may not make a difference but have them connect to AOL then minimize it's browser and use the default Internet Explorer browser (or some other browser) to obtain and access new mail accounts.
This might help narrow it down to IP/ISP related. (or rule out the AOL accounts)
Just to satisfy YOUR ISP, suggest to your friends that they do some online virus scans.

Some different browsers to choose from here.

    Online scanners
    Panda

    PC Pitstop

    Housecall

Newt is right about AOL blacklisting entire ISPs (they call it spam prevention) Maybe your ISP has blacklisted them! An email daemon is a fancy way of saying "return to sender, undeliverable mail ", and has nothing to do with a worm or virus. Your ISP is rejecting legitimate mail, and bouncing it back to the sender. Call back and ask to speak to another tech. I think you got a lazy one.

Daemon - From the mythological meaning, later rationalised as the acronym "Disk And Execution MONitor" A program that is not invoked explicitly, but lies dormant waiting for some conditions to occur. Unix systems run many daemons, chiefly to handle requests for services from other hosts on a network.

Basically a daemon is a routine that 'knows' how to do a certain thing and when called, will do that thing and then snooze again. The Mail Daemon is simply one that is designed to deal with mail to non-persons (or addresses not known to the mail server).

BTW - Unix systems use phantoms too - pretty much the same as a Windows service. Remember these were all originally developed by the same folks who thought that defining half a byte as a nibble was a reasonable thing to do.
