While I was working on line the other day all of a sudden a notice box appeared stating that an update version to my AOL instant message application was available. I continued to down load the changes, with no visible problems, but when completed it went to restart and I received an error message saying AIM service can't be reached. I did a cold boot and got the same result. I also noticed that when my Mcafee virus scan tries to do an automatic check for virus updates it comes back saying its unable to connect to the update server. Prior to the AOL AIM version update everything had been working fine. Any ideas of what went wrong?

Is it just your AIM program and a/v having trouble connecting? Are you still able to use your email and web browser OK? You can always try uninstalling and then reinstalling the programs. You should uninstall your a/v first and then uninstall and reinstall your AIM. After this is done, reinstall your a/v program. You should always disable your a/v program before installing other programs cause sometimes an a/v program can corrupt your installation cause it thinks it's apprehending a virus.

Shadowhawk: Thanks for your reply. I don't have any problems with my Web or E-Mail loading. I will try to uninstall and re-load as you suggest. I do have a question, If i uninstall AIM is there a way I can save my buddy list or do I have to reenter everything?

Yes you can. You click My AIM>Save Buddy List.
