antvrs.exe

antvrs.exe seems to be a new problem out there. My brother in law has pop ups continually that say Antivirus 2008 has found x amount of viruses on your computer. Spybot and AVG free didn't recognize or handle it. Anyone familiar with it and how to get rid of it? Just ran Malwarebytes Anti Malware and it removed 80 some items, but the Antivirus 2008 still pops up.

 

OK, it is fixed. Had to run the Malwarebytes Anti Malware three times and it finally removed the problem. Needed to update the Anti Malware in between running it three times and it kept adding updates. Just fyi

It would be recommended to post some logs to see if there's anything else lurking about that needs cleaned up. Please read this topic, install the latest version of Hijackthis, run a scan and save the log (you can close it for now). Then, download and run Deckard's System Scanner and post BOTH the main.txt and extra.txt logs. You may be required to put them in separate posts due to character count limitations.
