    As a "computer geek wannabe," I'm constantly trying to improve my hardware and software skills. Lately, I've focused on looking under the hood of WinXP. The Event Viewer intimidates me, but I know I must learn to understand its messages to ever expect to be a good troubleshooter. Under Security, I found an entry that reoccurs repeatedly in the logs, showing an Anonymous Logon. Using the microsoft link has told me that the logon type is 3, meaning that "a user or computer logged on to this computer from the network." Can anyone tell me more? Here's the event:

    Event Type: Success Audit
    Event Source: Security
    Event Category: Logon/Logoff
    Event ID: 540
    Date: 2/14/2006
    Time: 5:28:13 PM
    User: NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON
    Computer: I removed the name, but it displays in the log
    Description:
    Successful Network Logon:
    User Name:
    Domain:
    Logon ID: (0x0,0x15A18)
    Logon Type: 3
    Logon Process: NtLmSsp
    Authentication Package: NTLM
    Workstation Name:
    Logon GUID: {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
