I am currently running Windows 98SE on my home computer. I plan on doing a clean install of Windows XP on my system and the only problem i ran into while running the updgrade advisor to check for compatibility was the software of my sound card, a Turtle Beach Montego II. It doesn't come up under incompatible hardware so i was wondering if i could get off without having to buy a new sound card. If I dont have to buy a new sound card. BTW, the computer is a dell, 600mhz, 640mb, 10gig. And at turtle beach's website is says to refer to dell for the OEM versions of my sound card. Not much help from dell there. Any help is appreciated.

    This is the actual message:
Software That Does Not Support Windows XP

"Setup has found programs on your computer that are incompatible with
(that is, they do not work with) Windows XP. Contact your software
vendors to obtain updates or Windows XP-compatible versions. If you
don't update these programs before you upgrade, the programs will not
work after the upgrade is completed.

DVD Player (on the Start menu)
    Software CineMaster (in Control Panel)
TBS Montego II Audio (in Control Panel)

Before you upgrade to Windows XP, you should remove any incompatible
programs if you can. After the upgrade, uninstall for these programs
might not work. Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel can help you
uninstall most programs. Click Start, point to Settings, click
Control Panel, and then click Add/Remove Programs. "

The Windows 2000 drivers for your card can be downloaded here.

W2K drivers usually work with XP although your card is old enough that XP may have drivers for it.

I'd download the above W2K drivers and put them on a floppy (if they'll fit) or a CD for safekeeping. Then if XP can't install the card on its own, those drivers can be tried.
