Just recently everything I try to download, will start and then times out. Everything else runs fine(All web pages, games, MS downloads). When I click the link, the save/open box opens, no matter which one I try, it trys to connect then never progresses.
I first noticed this after I had a download get cut off..have dial-up...and I deleted the partial file(think it was a zip file).

Hi Juharris - Welcome to the Board :)

Not sure of the source of your problem, but, as a workaround, have you tried right clicking on the download link and selecting 'Save Target as' ?

What OS are you running? What IE version?

As a general clean-up (and it may even fix the problem) dump all your temporary internet files, all cookies, then download, update, and run Ad-aware & Spybot and let them get rid of all the spyware/malware they find.

A google search for ad-aware will give you a link to download as will spybot. After each is installed you can click to update the spyware ref files.

    In IE>Tools>Internet Options>Connections>settings for Dial up.Dial up settings>advanced (whew!)

Make sure the box is unticked for "drop the connection if idle" (20 minutes is the default) Sometimes, on dial up, Windows doesn't realize during a download that the connection is being used.

Of course, that is an eXPlanation...you didn't say what your OS was. Maybe there is a similar way if you are using a previous version of Windows. I would check that setting first.

EDIT oops...guess you did say...but I don't have a 2000 to play with to check
