A couple of months ago I deleted a bunch of temp files or something, not sure now what it was. Since then when I start the computer I am prompted for a password. I just hit "enter and it moves on. Then a message pops up that says xdnp32.dll is not available and that some or all of Xdrive might not be available. I have no interest in Xdrive. I hit "enter" or "ok" and the computer finishes booting. No big deal but it gets annoying to have to sit here and press "enter" twice. I would rather be able to turn the computer on and get a cup of coffee or something while it boots.

If you haven't installed XDrive, maybe it came with some other software.

Try Startup Control Panel. You can look through all your startup programs to remove any undesirables from loading.

You might also look through Add/Remove to see if X-Drive is installed (possibly under another name).

I downloaded and ran "startup control panel ". Also don't see anything suspicious in "add\remove. No luck so far but your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks ...Phil

Any suggestions for another name it might be installed under?

It's been a long time since I had it, but it may be under something like "virtual dirve" or "network drive ", or even something about online storage.

Anything in Add/Remove that you don't recognize at all?

You could try removing all references to that dll from the registry.

Go to Start > Run and type:
    regedit

Under the Edit menu, click Find and then look for xdnp32.dll.

Delete any references it finds and keep pressing F3 to continue the search until it notifies you that you have searched the entire registry.

Thanks Abraxas, that sounds like it would work but I have already reformatted my hard drive now. Sure wish I hadn't got in such a hurry to do that. Into my 2nd day, and I still haven't got everything reinstalled. Oh well, at least I can get my coffee now, while the computer boots up. ;)

I guess that solves the problem. There have been a lot of times where a frustrating problem has led me to this measure. It has the clean feeling of a recent shower and you get to set things up all over, making fewer mistakes.

For the untimid, it is to be recommended. Good luck.
