I have been having a problem with a program a called ads.datingyes.com trying to access a server when I run some programs. The latest was when I ran JV16 power tools. There is no reason for it to access the internet unless I check for an update. IE is acting up also. If I deny it access to the internet, then IE will not load my page. I also have not been able to update anything from the Microsoft update page. Does anyone have any info on this? Nothing shows up on Counterspy or BitDender but it shows up in KPF. Does anyone have info on this?................. Mike

IE requires access to the Internet if a URL request is located on the Internet. If the request in IE is made to a locally stored file/folder, then it does not require an Internet connection.

I am not familiar with that URL / website. But quick glance in Google shows 127.0.0.1 phrases, so it may provide a listing to be used in a HOST file. A locally stored list to block bad sites connecting to your computer.

It's basically adware - let's see if we can clean it up ...

Please download HijackThis through Quicklinks in my signature and save it to a folder on your hard drive, say C:\HJT - not to the Desktop or a temporary location. When entries are fixed with HJT a backup is made to the folder from which HJT is run and this must be in a permanent location.

Please download the trial version of Ewido. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu ". Once installed please update it by clicking on the Update button. Do not run it yet.

Boot into Safe Mode and log onto your usual account.
    Run Ewido ....

Click on Scanner and select a 'Complete System Scan'.
If anything is found during scanning you will be prompted to clean the files.
Select "Remove" and check the boxes "Perform action with all infections" and "Create encrypted backup" and then click on OK

Once the scan has completed save the report to a known location.

    Stay in Safe mode ....

Open the folder in which you placed HJT and double click on hijackthis.exe and select Scan and save a log file - this will be saved in the folder from which you ran HJT.

Reboot into Normal mode and post the HJT and Ewido logs here.

Thread moved to Removing Sptware & Viruses forum.
