 Please can somebody tell me how to log on as administrator so that I am able to install some updates for software!!
Having downloaded the update and try and open it says I do not have the administrator rights??
 Please make the answer explicit as I sure don't want a mess on my hands that I can't get out of [as I am still not quite used to XP although I love it]
    Thanks
    Karles

I have a file I downloaded that forces the Admin account to show up on the log in screen. As long as you're the admin and know the PW, you can get in. PM me and I'll send it.

Your user account should have full admin rights, if you are the only user on the comp. What software, specifically, is giving you the error message? The Admin Account on Pro can be accessed by two taps of C-A-D on the welcome screen. With Home edition, you need TweakUI to get the admin account to show at the welcome screen. You must also access the account in Safe Mode.

When you are booting the PC, try pressing F8 when the message shows up to do so. Gotta watch close though since it passes pretty quickly.

Possible that you will need to use F5 or Del rather than F8 depending on your PC but it will show a message.
